Applicability/Enforcement

Applicability

TCNJ motor vehicle regulations are applicable to any operator and/or owner of a motor vehicle being operated or parked on campus. Under the rules of evidence, a vehicle is presumed to have been parked on campus by the decal holder, the state registered vehicle owner, and/or the individual related to that owner. A motor vehicle, as defined by regulation, includes automobiles, motorcycles, motorbikes, and other self-propelled land driven vehicles.

TCNJ Enforcement

These regulations have been adopted and hereby promulgated by The Board of Trustees pursuant to N.J.S. 18A. These regulations will be enforced twenty-four hours a day by Campus Police. The TCNJ Campus Police Department is an authorized law enforcement agency, whose members are trained and qualified law enforcement officers. TCNJ Police may require identification of any person on campus and may apprehend violators as circumstances warrant.

Ewing Township Municipal Police (http://www.ewingpolice.com/)

Ewing Township police are authorized to issue summonses on campus to all violators of township and state laws.  However, a summons will not be issued by both the Ewing Police and the Campus Police for the same violation, in the same location, at the same time.

Individuals who park in the streets adjacent to the campus are subject to Ewing Township ordinances. Ewing Township police will enforce these regulations. The church parking lots are private property; unauthorized persons using these facilities will be considered trespassers and their vehicles are towed at the owner’s expense.

Fraudulent TCNJ Parking Decals

Any violation relating to the improper transfer of, fraudulent registration for, or other misuse of a parking decal or permit, may result in the issuance of a TCNJ Citation and/or a Ewing Township Municipal summons, answerable in the Ewing Township Municipal Court under the provisions of N.J.S.A. 18A. Additionally, an individual possessing or responsible for the issuance of a fraudulent decal will be reported to the Judiciary Board at the college for further disciplinary action and possible revocation of their parking privileges.
